Who is Mick Schumacher? New Haas driver

Son of legend Michael Schumacher, Mick is announced by Haas for the 2024 F1 season.

Now it's official: Michael Schumacher's son will start his career in Formula 1 in 2024. On Wednesday morning, Haas announced that Mick Schumacher will be one of the drivers of the American team for the 2024 season.

At the age of 21, Mick comes from Formula 2. Leader of the season with 205 points, he has a 14-point lead over second-placed Briton Callun Ilot. To keep the title, the German (Prema Racing) just needs to get ahead of his opponent (Virtuosi Racing) in the other races, both to be held next weekend in Bahrain.

Mick will be the sixth son of a world champion looking to repeat his father's F1 footsteps. In addition to Michael Schumacher's son, the category featured Keke and Nico Rosberg, Graham and Damon Hill, Nelson Piquet and Nelson Piquet Jr., Jack and David Brabham and Mario and Michael Andretti. Of these, only Damon and Nico repeated their fathers' achievements by becoming world champions.

The F2 Prema driver, who drove his father's seventh (F2004) title at the Mugello circuit at the Tuscan Grand Prix, even had the chance to debut in an official weekend for the category at the Eifel stage in October. However, the first training sessions were canceled due to bad weather.

His father, the greatest Formula 1 champion with Lewis Hamilton, is recovering from the head trauma he suffered after an accident on a ski slope in December 2013 in France. After leaving the hospital, at the time, the German began to treat himself at home, and his health status is kept confidential by the family.
